Within this evolving environment, Cyprus is called upon to assess the strategic implications of these developments both for its own security and for prospects to resolve the Cyprus problem.<\/p>\n<p>The keynote speaker will be:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prof. Costas M. Constantinou<\/strong><br \/>\nProfessor of International Relations, University of Cyprus<\/p>\n<p>Interventions will be delivered by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis<\/strong>, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs<\/li>\n<li><strong>Xenia Constantinou<\/strong>, Political Scientist and Former Member of Parliament (DISY)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Anna Koukkides-Procopiou<\/strong>, President of the POLITEIA Centre for Socio-Political Thinking and Former Minister of Justice and Public Order<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stavri Kalopsidiotou<\/strong>, Head of the Cyprus Affairs Office, AKEL<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The discussion will be moderated by <strong>Peggy Spineli<\/strong>, Editor-in-Chief of <em>Politis To The Point<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, journalist <strong>Kyriakos Pieridis<\/strong> will present, on behalf of OPEK, key findings from a draft <strong>Policy Paper<\/strong> examining how developments in European security and defence may influence efforts to resolve the Cyprus problem and contribute to shaping a new security framework for a reunited Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p>The event seeks to contribute to an informed public debate on whether the emerging European security and defence architecture can create new opportunities, incentives and frameworks for cooperation that could strengthen efforts towards the reunification of Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p>The discussion is organized within the framework of the project <strong>\u201cSecuring a European and Democratic Future\u201d<\/strong>, implemented under the <strong>EU Presidency Project 2024\u20132026 (EUPP5)<\/strong> with the support of <strong>CARDET<\/strong>.
