Cyprus completes 20 years of membership! What is the perspective and what are the lessons learned through the two decades experiences as an EU member state?
The issue tops the event to be organized by OPEK Association for Social Reform on Monday 20 May 2024, 19.00 – 20.30 at the Journalist’s House in Nicosia with keynote speaker Christos Stylianides, Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy of Greece, former Member of the European Commission.
The event is open to the public and will be broadcast and Live-streamed via FACEBOOK
@OPEKCyprus @PolitisNewspaper. There will be a dialogue with audience participation moderated by Dr Theano Kalavana, President of OPEK.
The event will also include the award ceremony of the Award in memorial of Yiannos Kranidiotis to the Rector of the University of Cyprus, Professor Tasos Christofides. Kyriakos Pierides will read the rationale of the award on behalf of the Award Committee, journalist, member of the OPEK Board. This will be followed by a speech by the award-winning Professor.
The event is part of the EU funded “We – Together” Programme implemented by OPEK to strengthen civic participation in European public life and the forthcoming European Elections 2024.
