The European Union is facing significant geopolitical challenges. Within this evolving environment, Cyprus is called upon to assess the strategic implications of these developments both for its own security and for prospects to resolve the Cyprus problem.

During the event, journalist Kyriakos Pieridis will present, on behalf of OPEK, key findings from a draft Policy Paper examining how developments in European security and defence may influence efforts to resolve the Cyprus problem and contribute to shaping a new security framework for a reunited Cyprus.
The event seeks to contribute to an informed public debate on whether the emerging European security and defence architecture can create new opportunities, incentives and frameworks for cooperation that could strengthen efforts towards the reunification of Cyprus.
The discussion is organized within the framework of the project “Securing a European and Democratic Future”, implemented under the EU Presidency Project 2024–2026 (EUPP5) with the support of CARDET.
